“Indonesia” video series (2008)

While working in Taiwan, myself and Derek took some time off and headed to Indonesia for 3 weeks. While not too close, the price of airline tickets went down BIG TIME, and we managed to get return flights from Taipei to Jakarta for well under $400. Thus, we hit Jakarta, Yogjakarta, Bromo, Bali, Flores and Komodo, and had 3 weeks of really neat traveling through one of the most populous countries in the world.  While bracing myself for India-style mayhem, it turned out to be a very relaxed and friendly part of the world, and this really comes through in the videos.

The 14-part series is not heavy on narrations, but rather emphasizes the views and the mood of the place. We were indeed VERY surprised to see how calm the country was, especially in light of other backpackers panicky reports of violence, scams, and other crap.  In any case, click, watch, enjoy.
